PRATIQUE 35 Kit

The Pratique 35 was our very first steel design. It is fitting then, that it is also the first to be developed into a pre-cut kit for owner assembly. This kit has been designed to be built by the frameless fairing method, the hull plating being done inside of temporary external framing. Preprimed kits can be supplied from Vancouver BC in Canada or rights can be purchased for use of the cutting files by a supplier in your area, on a "per boat" basis.

Kits comprise all components that can be cut from steel plate. Cutting files comprise info in dxf format for CNC cutting of these same components. This includes all internal transverse and longitudinal framing, hull and deck skin, keel, integral tanks, engine beds, rudder etc. The stem plate of the kit is supplied brake-formed to its final shape as a bow cone, which must be allowed for when having another supplier cut your kit from our cutting files.

Rolled or drawn profiles such as tubes for leading edges of keel and rudder, stern tube, mast supports etc are not included, as well as stainless steel components. If you require us to supply these, we can obtain prices for them as extras on the standard kit.

Also included in the prices are:~

~ Delivery anywhere in continental USA or Canada

~ Clear instructions

~ Assembly diagrams

~ Full stock design plans

~ Access to email advice from Dudley Dix

~ Access to email advice from Rick Welin, boatbuilder and kit developer

This kit is built by the frameless fairing method, ie the plating is assembled inside of a temporary cradle that positions it for correct alignment before welding. The upper portion of the keel is assembled before starting the hull plating and positioned securely as part of the external framing, forming a rigid base during the plating process. The stringers, framing, transom etc are fitted to the plated hull and the deck is assembled in the normal way. The hull can stay in the cradle until it must be raised to fit the skeg and lower portion of the keel.
